What is Ghost Writing & How Does it Work?

What is Ghost Writing?

Ghost writing is where you hire someone to write your books, screenplays, speeches, articles, blog posts, and stories for you. However, they are officially credited to you and not the person who actually wrote the material. The ghost writer does not receive any royalties from the book sales. Therefore, you will pay a flat fee, up front for the ghost writing service.

How Does it Work?

Let’s say you want to write a book, but writing is not your strong suit so, you hire a ghost writer. The ghost writing process would be a collaborative effort between you and the person writing for you. You will need to send them your thoughts and feelings on the subject via email, text messages, phone calls, video chats etc. You would agree on a preferred method of contact with your ghost writer. Then together, the two of you will work on writing the project over the course of a specified time period. One of the biggest challenges you will face in this process is making sure your voice is not lost in the pages. What I mean is that each writer has a set writing style. If you choose to have a ghost writer, make sure the finished product sounds like you. Make sure your thoughts and feelings are clearly displayed the way you imagined them to be.
